Background of the Study
Gender diversity in leadership has been recognized as a key factor in improving decision-making, workplace inclusivity, and policy implementation. In the healthcare sector, diverse leadership ensures that policies reflect the needs of both male and female healthcare workers and patients. Studies have shown that gender-diverse leadership fosters innovation, enhances communication, and promotes equitable healthcare policies.
In Jigawa State, the healthcare leadership structure has historically been male-dominated. The lack of gender diversity may limit perspectives on key healthcare issues, particularly those affecting women and children. Despite efforts to improve gender representation in leadership, challenges such as cultural barriers, gender biases, and limited opportunities for women persist.
This study aims to examine the impact of gender diversity in healthcare leadership on policy implementation in Jigawa State, assessing whether greater inclusion improves healthcare policy outcomes.
